New IPhone 7 crashes WIFI signal

Just purchased the new IPhone 7 running IOS 10.0.2. 30 sec. after I connect to our home WIFI, the signal crashes for everyone on it. I have tried resetting the network setting, resetting the router/WIFI, and turning off and on every setting on the phone that has to do with WIFI connects. Nothing has worked. My son came over tonight and his new IPhone 7 did the same thing to our WIFI. Thanks for you help!

Hey path luminous,

I don't think this will solve this issue as this is a OS bug not the router issue.

I have the same issue, installed new router according to the Apple suggestion Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support but helped nothing.

Apple needs to fix this issue and release their upcoming OS update.

OK! I found the solution to this same problem I was having with my network and 7+. I run a seasonal business and I got my new 7+ back in December. I just started back in my office this week and every time I tried to connect my 7+ to the wifi it would kick all devices from the network and wouldn't allow a connection for about a minute. I spent well over an hour on the phone with my ISP about how I thought it may be a network modem/wifirouter issue. Finally we changed the security settings on the router to just WEP and it cured my issues, at least it seems for now. So far(the last hour) it hasn't crashed the router! So basically he said apparently it didn't like the WPA security and so we removed it! TADA! it now works!

SnickZ - are you in any way an apple "official" person? I see 131 people have this issue, and as you might have guessed I have it as well. When I turn off wifi on my iPhone 7 my network works beautifully, but if I turn it on for a little while and god forbid I start browsing on it the entire networks shuts down. I have a Netgear R7000 wifi router, and up until the latest update everything worked just fine; now its a disaster... Any thoughts?

So I had this exact problem, and it drove me crazy. I went and bought a new modem thinking the hardware was screwy (my router's diagnostics panel reported no internet from the modem). I did a firmware reset on the wifi router, same thing. After a little browsing on my iPhone 7 the whole network would come crashing down. Frustrated I decided to disable wifi on my phone. A couple of days later I wanted to test whether the problem was still occurring, so I turned my phone's wifi back on, and everything works just fine. I don't know if it will work for others, but it did for me! I can't really explain why - it just worked. Hope that helps somebody!

Greetings, catduramax!
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I see you're having issue with home Wi-Fi network whenever an iPhone 7 joins. That won't be helpful for a harmonious family, and I'll be glad to help.

My wife and I just purchased new iphone 7s last night and now we have the exact same problem. not only does it happen at our home it also crashes the wifi at my wife's parents house. I have also checked all network and router settings and that all looks good. If the phone isn't the problem, why would it have the same effect on two completely different wifi networks? We have had iPhone models 4 and 5 and also currently have 3 iPads. Not until we connected the iPhone 7 did we start having trouble.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I received my new iPhone 7 two nights ago and connected it to my home WiFi network before bed. I had planned for all of my apps and iCloud photos to download while I slept. I woke up the next morning and my phone was connected to LTE. As I was no longer connected to WiFi, I used up my entire data allotment in one night! Thankfully, Verizon recognized that my data usage was abnormal for one day and restored it.

I have experimented with the Wifi connectivity issues and here is what I have discovered:

1. If my iPhone 7 is the only device connected to the WiFi network, I usually remain connected. However, the signal drops periodically.

2. If my iPhone 7 joins the WiFi network with my MacBook Pro and/or iPad Mini, the signal drops on all devices almost immediately.

3. If the signal drops on my MacBook Pro or iPad Mini, the only way to restore the signal is to turn off Wifi on the iPhone 7.

I was so distraught by the above turn of events that I ordered a new cable modem and Airport router. I will confirm whether this solves the problem. If not, I have an appointment with the Genius Bar on Monday and will probably swap out my device for a new one.

I have the exact same problem. Gf came home yesterday with the new iphone 7, the WIFI crashed all the time. It's fine after we turned of the WIFI on her new phone.

We have never had problems before, the router is brand TPLink (will look up the model tonight) and I installed DDWRT on it. Will try update the firmware tonight. Getting a new router seems to solve the problem, but Apple could at least give a statement about this.
