Why is the App Store telling me to download iPhoto 9.6.1 when I have Photos.app in El Capitán? When I DO try to download it, it says it is not available in the U.S. Mac App Store.
If you no longer us iPHoto then delete it form the applications folder and these update messages will stop

Thanks, Larry. I didn't realize it was still there as it was replaced by Photos everywhere else. The EC installer should have removed it there also.
No - two separate programs and some people still use iPhoto - if the installer removed it then they could not - it provides them the choice

How can they still use it on EC? The iPhotos.app had the overlay on it denoting it would not run on EC.

For people who stay up to date so they have version 9.6.1 iPhoto works on Yosemite, El Captain and OS X Sierra
