Oct 5, 2016 10:44 PM in response to bryanbshocby oingo boingo,No, you need a bit of musical nous for that. I assume you would find it tricky to play a keyboard along and hear/guess the chords/key?
Here would be my suggestion for a workaround - if it is about a whole song, as you state in your question:
- Look up the chords on a website
- See whether you can find the original key version (that would be easy, no?)
- Then play those chords along your imported song. If they don't sound right, transpose your MIDI track up and down step by step until it sounds right. -> Got your chords and key.
If your song does not have chords to look up, find parts of the song where you heave clear bass notes (not too much drums), EQ everything else out, pop the Tuner plug in into the track and see whether you can pick the dominant notes. That should lead you to your song key.

this one is extremely basic and you still have to figure out a lot by yourself, but you will get at least some informative clues about the key.
