Finder slow when exploring folder with lots of files

Hello guys,

That is definitely something new with Yosemite: if you explore a Folder containing lots of files (e.g. 500-1500 files and folders) it becomes sluggish and very slow and you get the turning ball showing up for a couple seconds.

This behavior did NOT exist before... I know because I've always been using my Download folder as some sort of temporary folder which gets cluttered very fast and always contains tons of files until I empty/clean it.

It seems like this behavior occurs a lot when an external application (e.g. photoshop, chrome, etc) tries to open the finder to allow you to select some file, in that case exploring a folder with lots of files will show the turning rainbow wheel of death...

This slow/sluggish finder behavior is not acceptable and must be fixed ASAP.

Cheers,

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
