Steps to reproduce:
- open Pages document
- open print dialog, on right side you can see the button called 'Print'
- now save the document from this dialog as PDF
- then open print dialog again, on right side you cannot see the button called 'Print', the button mow called 'Save'
It is not possible to print without restart Pages. The problem do not occur in Numbers, Keynote, Safari or TextEdit.

You failed to mention what version of Pages though I suspect it is Pages 6.0.
Have you tried Pages '09 in Sierra?

It is Pages 6.0, the lates one that is available on App Store.
Well that's half a reply to my questions.

Clearly not documented, but in Pages v6.0, if you press the option key + Save button on the Print panel, it will just throw the document at your printer. The Save button does not change to Print when you do this.
I filed a bug report with the Pages team, anyway.
