Is there a way to read the settings in a .pst file?

Hi all!

I've looked everywhere for info on this, and can't find anything. Does anyone know of a way to read the settings that are contained within a .pst file? I've found some that I really like, but would like to know what they are doing. In other words, what different FX are being used and what are their settings? I'd like to use some that other users have created as a starting point point for creating my own FX chains. Opening them in a text editor only reveals something like:

@^@^@D^@^A^A^@^@^@^@^KEMAGPPST^@^@^A^H^@^@^@^@Âp^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@¿<80>^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@?<80>^@^@@^@^@^@

Is there a way to somehow show what they are doing and what settings they are using?

You are right, the settings file only contain code when opening in a text editor.

But why don't you just open the settings in a Project, this way you see exactly what Plugins are loaded. Opening the Plugin Window will show you parameters and their settings.

The only limitation is that GarageBand only has a limited Plugin Window view that might not display all the Parameters. For that you have to open them in Logic Pro X.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I just switched to a MacBook Air, and don't even really use GarageBand any more. Logic Pro X is out of the question, since I'm a total REAPER convert now. There simply is no other DAW out there that can compare for flexibility, customization, efficient code, and portability. I'm particularly interested in the Speech Enhancer Male Narrator settings. The only things I miss about Logic is that audio rendering engine that was present ever since Emagic owned it that made everything just sound awesome. I'd import a project from another program, use the same settings with the same plugins, and still get this special sparkle. Well, that's kind of what I'm experiencing with this particular preset. I know it uses an expander, compressor, and an EQ, but it does something really special to the recording that I can't quite duplicate. I could fiddle around with it for a long time, or maybe there is someone out there with Logic Pro X that can open up that particular preset for me and give me hint where to start. Hint, hint …
