How do I invite people to a calendar event with the new iOS 10?

Before I updated to the iOS 10, I could create a calendar event with the apple iphone built-in calendar app and there was an option to "invite" contacts to it so they could add it to their calendars. I cannot find this option now after the new update. Where/How do I do this?

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

I am having a closely related, but slightly different problem.

I want to invite someone to an event that I have already entered in the calendar.

I go to the date of the event, click on it, see an hour-by-hour schedule, scroll down to the hour of the event, and the event appears. I then click on the event.

I click on "Edit" in the upper right corner.

I scroll down about halfway. "Invitees" appears on the left side (just after "Calendar" and before "Alerts"). I click on "Invitees". The heading "Add invitees" appears.

At the space after the word "To:", I add the email of the person I want to invite. Up to this point I have been following directions from Apple online exactly.

Now there is a problem. I am supposed to press a button labeled "Send", but there is no such button. My only choices are "Done" and "Cancel". I press "Done".

I am now back to the " Invitees" screen. I could add more invitees, go to the contact page for the person already invited or return to "Edit event". Still no "send" button. I click to return to "Edit event".

The "Edit event" screen now shows "Invitees...1". Still no "Send" option. I can choose between "Cancel" and "Done". I click on "Done".

I now am back to "Calendar" for the day of the event. The event is listed, but with nothing about invitees. If I now click on "Edit event ", it shows "Invitees... NONE".

So after all my effort, no one has been invited.

Does anyone know a solution for this? Or is there simply no "invite" option for the current version of Calendar"?

Invite others to an event. You can invite people to an event, even if you’re not the one who scheduled it, with Exchange and some other servers. Tap an event, tap Edit, then tap Invitees. Type names, or tap ➕ to pick people from Contacts. If you don’t want to be notified when someone declines a meeting, go to Settings > Calendar, then turn off Show Invitee Declines.

Thank you for your response.

The problem is on my partners iPhone 5 with IOS 10.0.2

I have an Iphone 6 and regularly use the facility and understand how you invite a party to a meeting and it works fine on my phone however i repeat, when trying to do this on my partners iPhone, as you explained, the invitees section is NOT there at all. (It is on mine)

Also if i invite her to a meeting, even though it is sent on my Iphone, it does not come up on her phone.

So when i said "Not trying to sound thick but the invite option is just not there when you press edit!!!!" i actually mean the invite option is NOT there.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated as it worked fine before this latest update to IOS 10.
