Q: problem analysis phot

How long has it been stalled? You have a very large library so  I'd keep the Mac awake and powered and Photos not running and give it a few more days - generally messing around slows it rather than speeding it and there is "restart scn" command

Same problem here... My library is around 15000 photos, all scanned within few days (a couple of weeks ago) except for 335.

I tried to rebuild the photo library, but it didn't help. "Optimized storage" option is off. 

Does anybody know if there is a way to check which pictures have not been scanned (so that I could remove them and reimport them)?

Do you have videos in your Photos Library? The processing of faces will be slower, when it gets to the videos.

Can you tell from the faces you are seeing in your People album when you click the "+" button, how far the scan got? The face from the most recently scanned photo or video should be at the top or the bottom of the list you are seeing when clicking the plus. check these moments  first.

• Check, if all photos or videos in these moments can be played.
• Look at the filename extensions of the filenames in the info panel and check for filename extensions that are different from the filename extensions where the faces scan worked.

Check in the Console.app (from Applications > Utilities), if the process photoanalysisd is running at all or perhaps giving error messages. Type "photo" into the search field of the Console and click "Diagnostic and usage " in the sidebar.

In my library the faces scan has finished and I am mostly seeing messages with respect to creating new memories.

How many photos are there after the moment you found DO the numbers match the 519 photos waiting to be processed?

The Console message you posted is showing that Photos already proceeded to creating Memory albums. Perhaps the message about " 519 photos waiting to be processed" is bogus and not correctly updated and Photos already scanned all photos.

Make a test:  Export an edited  version of a photo were Photos succeeded in detecting faces and reimport this exported photo. It should be edited, so it is not an exact duplicate. Now wait, if Photos will change the number of photos waiting to be scanned. Does it scan the photo or just increase the number of photos waiting?

If it increases the number of photos to be scanned, without progress for some time, export the photos from the moments you identified (the unmodified originals) and import them into your test library. Does photos start to scan faces there?

The nmber of photos remains the same at 453

Enable "View > Show faces names". If you look at the photo you imported, did Photos scan it and add Faces circles to this photo - are you seeing faces circles overlaid, when you enlarge the photo?

If yes, the faces scan is still working.

Then just wait, Thomas.  Photos is occasionally scanning the photos. It is just painfully slow.

Do you have a portable Mac? is the power connector working reliably and charging the Mac?  The scanning will stop, if the Mac does not recognize it is connected to a power supply.

Thanks for the hint, I do have videos, but only 100 (face detection is stuck at 300)...
