Q: Watch wont unlock macBook Air

I have a Iwatch  that is the first gen however updated to the ios 3.0 I also have a MacBook Air that is a 2015. I have only had it about 4 months. I downloaded Sierra and was very excited about my watch unlocking my mac. However It will not work.

 

I have very carefully done every step that Apple support suggested, I spent 2.5 hours in the store with a genius and it still does not work. I was on the phone with Apple support and got hung up on, so Im hoping to get some help here.

MACBOOK AIR (11-INCH, EARLY 2015), iOS 10.0.2

    Hey Molly624,

    If I understand correctly, you are having trouble getting the Apple Watch to unlock your MacBook Air. ​It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting and you may have already been through this material, but just in case ​I would recommend you read this article. It hs the steps and requirements for this feature to work.

    Hi Molly, same here, tried everything!

     

    I have all complied to all the requirements as 2FA, pass on Watch, running latest software, really annoying by now!

     

    When I restart the Mac and test it out by going into screensaver the dialog appears "unlocking with Watch" but then in 100% of the time it fails and the password has to be entered.

     

    So anyone out there who can give me a tip? Thanks in advance!!
