Q: iMac losing internet connection on sleep

I remote into my iMac all the time. I am having trouble with it losing connection to the internet since upgrading to Sierra. I have it connected to the internet through a Ethernet cable. I will lose connection 10-15 minutes after leaving my computer and accessing it remotely. I have "Wake for WiFi network access" checked and turn display off set for 10 minutes. I have only had this issue within the last few days since upgrading. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I use this for work presentation very frequently and am losing connection during them. Thanks

Not quite the same since I'm not trying to access remotely, but since upgrading to Sierra, my mid-2010 iMac does not reconnect to wifi on waking.  It's not slow, it does not reconnect at all until I explicitly select the network.  I did not have this problem prior to Sierra, and it does not seem to affect my mid-2012 Air (also on Sierra).

I am having this same issue. I filed a bug report at bugreport.apple.com, but they closed it saying this was not a bug. I would suggest you file another bug report so that they realize this is broken. I also remotely access my computer, and this is very frustrating.

I am not a registered developer so cannot use bugreport, but I did file a report via feedback (I realize they don't have to respond individually to these however).  Will update if I hear anything back.

I made some more changes to my iMac energy settings and it seemed to fix the issue. I checked the boxes "Put hard disk to sleep when possible" and "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off". I have not had any trouble connecting remotely since making these changes. Hopefully this helps!

Thanks, good idea.  I checked the energy settings on my iMac and Air and they have slightly different options, but neither has "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off", so this must be one of the model-specific differences.  I'll try setting "Ask to join new networks" in the network settings (shouldn't do much since my iMac doesn't travel) and see if that works.  Otherwise I'll just consider it a minor cost of nursing a 6 year-old Mac...

Same issue. My iMac (Mid 2010) doesn't have the "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" option either. This started right after I upgraded (or should I say downgraded?) to Sierra. I also had to disconnect my aging HP printer/scanner from my iMac and connect it to the Airport Extreme because my wife could no longer access the printer from her iMac. Consequently, I can't use the scanner unless I reconnect the the HP Deskjet to my printer. Looks like I will be shopping for a new printer :-[

My last idea didn't work either, so at this point I haven't found a solution.  Have not had any issues with my printer (a 2-year-or-so old Epson) however.
