OS X 12 and HP LaserJet P1606dn?

OS X 12 doesn't recognize the LaserJet P1606dn printer attached to the computer. It says that the printer is off line (not) and when I try to re-add the printer, Printers and Scanners only comes up with software for a LaserJet P1606dn scanner. HP doesn't have an updated driver for OS X 12 either. Any suggestions?

Good suggestion, but following the directions in that FAQ didn't solve the problem. By now, I've deleted the original driver. Even after a printer reset, the list of available printers included HP LaserJet P1606dn Scanner, not Printer. This printer doesn't scan, so I think a labeling mistake happened when I upgraded. I hope it can be fixed soon.

Well, after buying a new printer, I thought I would give my old printer one more try by doing as you suggested and finding the IP address. So after connecting the printer to power and to an airport express, I went to my computer to see if I could discover the IP address (this printer doesn't have a screen and the auto print page doesn't have the IP address). Lo and behold, when I looked on Printers&Scanners, the printer was recognized and the driver was available. So now I have two laserjet printers, one that duplexes in B&W and the other that prints single sided in color. Yikes! Thanks for your help with this. -jmb
