Q: Browser hijacked

Hi all,

After a short diagnostic bij the apple online support, a software technician told me that my browser has been hijacked. I have recently received a bunch of pop up ads. Another problem is dat every time I click on a link of a website, it will open a random (ads) websites on a new tab. Very annoying and it makes my computer run very slow. Every now and then, the browser will jam and I need to restart safari.

Anyone has experience on this problem? I had a mackeeper installed till recently, but ever since I removed it, I got these problems. If I need to install an antivirus, which one I should get?

Regards,

Ferry

Click here and follow the instructions, or if you'd rather not remove the adware manually, run MalwareBytes for Mac.

MalwareBytes simplifies the process of removing adware but doesn't stop it or other malware from getting onto the computer. It shouldn’t be relied on to prevent future incidents; instead, avoid downloading software from sources other than the Mac App Store or the developer websites.

    Hi Niel,

Thanks for your reply. I've just installed Bitdefender virus scanner I downloaded from the app store and seems to work pretty well so far. I also followed the instruction link u sent to me and removed a couple files from my Mac. We'll see if it will keep up.
