MacBook pro will not recognize my Garmin vivoactive after Maverick update

I can not sync my Garmin VivoActive HR watch with the new Sierra operating system installed. The MacBook Pro also does not recognize my external hard drive for back up

MacBook Pro (17-inch Late 2011), macOS Sierra (10.12)

Have you checked Garmin support for updated drivers?

Regarding the external HD:

Is the drive self-powered, that only powered by the USB bus? If so it could be that the USB port does not provided enough power. You can try a powered USB hub.

- Does it show in Disk Utility?

- Does it show in System Profiler under USB? You should see the chipset in the enclosure as well as the HD itself

If your external hard drive is a Seagate formatted with an NTFS file system, then you need to download the updated driver from http://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/downloads/item/ntfs-driver-for-mac-os-maste r-dl/

If that works and you do not share the drive with Microsoft Windows, it might be an idea to reformat it (after saving your data elsewhere) with a native macOS file system so you don't run into this issue again.
