Q: Problems syncing after iTunes update

I recently updated to the new version of iTunes (12.5.1.21) and now I can't sync the music to my iPad Pro on iOS 10.0.2. I have backed up, restored, and cleared my library only for the sync to continue to get stuck.

Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

The following steps should help with erratic syncing behaviour. They assume that all of the content you want on the device is in your library ready for restoring. If it isn't see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device first. I would also recommend you copy everything out of the camera roll if you haven't already.

    1. Backup device.
    2. Restore as a new device.
    3. Restore the backup you made earlier.

Use an encrypted backup if you want to preserve passwords, wi-fi settings, web history and health & homekit data where appropriate.

    Hi. Thanks for helping.

I tried your suggestions and I continue to have my problem. No matter how I sync, either as a clean restore or a back up, iTunes always gets stuck at Step 4 which is the music sync. iTunes will drop my device from wi-fi and even while connected through USB. iTunes becomes unresponsive and shows that it's syncing but in reality the device is not even connected to the network and the device itself is not showing that it is syncing. The only way I can control iTunes is by closing it in Task Manager.

    Any ideas? Thanks again.

Sync over USB. Ideally with the media connected locally. If the media is on an external USB drive try moving slots so that the drive and the device don't have to share a channel. Do not use a USB hub. Check the health of the media source drive. Change the sync selection to include a small selection of music and then expand the list. See the break up large transfers section of Corrupt iPod Classic for more details. You could also try Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
