Maps in Photos show hidden photo thumbnails

Hide a photo with GPS. Look at the photo's location in the Map view. The thumbnail shows up.

Any photos with GPS can't be hidden from the Map.

SUGGESTION: In general, photos that are hidden should not appear ANYWHERE except the Hidden photo album.

I have submitted this to Apple Feedback, if this bothers you, please send them feedback too:

I removed the GPS from all photos that I do not want to appear on the maps. It would help, if we could set the key photos to appear on the maps ourselves. Or if Photos would pick one of the photos marked as favorites. The photos chosen for the places markers seem to favor photos with people in them and are usually the worst possible choice. When I look at the Places maps I usually see a selection of photos I like least - almost of them are the annoying photos where a stranger stepped in front of my camera, just when I was releasing the shutter. Photos seems to want the map covered by selfies. It ignores all metadata that indicate which photos we like.

The term "Hidden" is misleading. All that hiding does is remove the the photos from the Moments and Collections, but it is not meant to keep photos secret and hidden away. It is just a means to make the Moments more manageable, because they are created automatically and hiding allows you to remove photos from the moments without having to delete them.
