iTunes is stuck on not responding.

II've uninstalled every Apple product from my laptop. I haven't had my iTunes music for years. What do I do?

Try holding down ctrl+shift when you launch iTunes, keep holding until you see a dialog box, then click continue. This opens iTunes in its safe mode which sometimes fixes launch issues.

Alternatively try right-clicking on the iTunes icon and using run as administrator. Doing this once sometimes helps.

Next try Fix unexpected quits or launch issues in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support and use the advice there to see if the issue is limited to a particular library or user profile.

Or see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and try a complete tear down and rebuild. If you have a 64-bit system you could also try the "for older video cards" release.

I've asked the hosts to remove your email address, it only encourages spam. Mine can be found if you try hard enough, but you're more likely to get a response here than via email since I'm bad at checking that account.

Did you test the behaviour with a different library or a different user profile?

Did you try the "for older video cards" version? Or is this not a 64-bit machine?

Thank you so much. I've no idea what I've done so far. Let's just try to recap what I've done and it stopped working. I've updated my Windows to the latest version after my accident. iTunes was unable to open after I've downloaded the latest iTunes. I was told that I shouldn't have updated Windows. Here I am trying to resolve this issue for years. TThere's only one account that's known and that's me.

iTunes doesn't always cope with an in place upgrade of Windows, but it should be possible to fix it by removing all iTunes components and then reinstalling. If you've done this already, and iTunes installed without any apparent error, then there is probably something else that needs fixing, such as the preference files or the library.

Apple's support document Fix unexpected quits or launch issues in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support should take you through some differential troubleshooting steps, one of which is to create a brand new user account and see how iTunes behaves in that. This will indicate whether the problem is specific to your user account or affects all users. Knowing that suggests what to do next.

No. We're talking about a new Windows user account on the computer. It is a fairly standard troubleshooting procedure aimed at identifying which bit of the data and software involved in running the application is actually causing the problem, something in your library, something in your user profile, or something common to all users, i.e. the application. You create the user account. Reboot the computer and sign in as the other user. Test iTunes. Then reboot and sign back in as yourself.
