Q: Wifi issues with Sierra?
Upgraded to Sierra last week, and noticed that my MBA is unable to log into some of my existing 5GHz wifi SSIDs. Here's what's happening:
Using iPhone 6
SSID A 2.4GHz OK
SSID A 5GHz OK
SSID B 2.4GHz OK
SSID B 5GHz OK
Time Capsule2.4GHz OK
Time Capsule 5GHz OK
Using iPad Air 2
SSID A 2.4GHz OK
SSID A 5GHz OK
SSID B 2.4GHz OK
SSID B 5GHz OK
Time Capsule2.4GHz OK
Time Capsule 5GHz OK
Using MacBook Air (MBA) on Sierra v10.12
SSID A 2.4GHz OK
SSID A 5GHz Cannot connect
SSID B 2.4GHz Cannot detect SSID
SSID B 5GHz Cannot connect
Time Capsule2.4GHz OK
Time Capsule 5GHz OK
Note: MBA was within 2m of the respective wifi router during testing.
Everything was going fine until I upgraded to Sierra, and I did not change any settings on any device during this time. What is confusing is other devices are ok (iPads, iPhones, Samsung/other mobile phones, etc.) work fine with the existing wifi SSIDs, only MBA is giving me headaches.
A tech professional helped us setup our network, and since nothing was modified during this period of time, I am wondering if Sierra is the issue, and if anyone has the same problem, hopefully with a simple workaround or solution in hand, thanks!
