Q: 2012 vs New Macbook Pro
Hi Guys n girls,
I hope you're all cool. I wondered if I could trouble you of some advice. I currently run a mid 2012 15 Macbook Pro with specs as follows:
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
It still runs incredibly well after nearly four years and has never given me any trouble, but I use the likes of Adobe Premier, After Effects etc for my day to day work and I have noticed it's beginning to struggle when attempting to work and preview in real time larger projects and those that use 4K footage.
From this, I have been looking to upgrade. However, the new MacBooks can't be boosted as much as I would have thought. I am looking at the spec below and whilst the numbers are bigger...
2.8GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
Intel Iris Pro Graphics + AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5 memory
...am I really going to notice that much of a difference and would it justify the £2150 price tag.
Many thanks,
J
