i backed up my iphone on itunes and on the cloud. Now where is the back up I need to make sure it is there before i update my phone

Unless you deleted the backup from iTunes or turned off iCloud backups, the backup should be in both places.
You can check to see if the iCloud backup is there by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage, select your device, and it will tell you when your Last Backup was done.
For iTunes, open iTunes on your computer, click on iTunes>Preferences>Devices to see the list of backups.

There is no backup on iTunes or iCloud
