Q: App store "search" not working
Hi guys,
For some reason, the App Store on my iPhone 6S won't let me use the search function.
Upon typing anything in and pressing enter afterwards, it always says "The App Store is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." This is a recent issue. I think I had this problem for about ~two days now. I didn't think much of it initially, thinking it was perhaps an rare App store outage, but after two days that should be out of the question.
Here's the strange part...
1) Everything else works normally (the featured / top chart / categories / update in the App Store, etc. and just if anyone else was wondering, the iTunes app works fine...search and everything)
2) Signing out FIXES the problem.
3) Using a different Apple ID also FIXES the problem.
4) Changing the region within the App Store to anything other than the United States FIXES the problem.
I tried:
1) Rebooting phone (both manually turning it off and on and holding the wake/home button at the same time)
2) "Resetting" the App store by tapping on any one of the bottom App Store tab 9 times.
3) Changing region / date and then changing it back (in the settings app).
3) Changing language settings and then changing it back.
So from what I'm seeing, it's something with my Apple ID / region. Of course, using any of the three ways the fixes the problem can be a solution, but it's obviously not idea as it's makes my App Store browsing experience a bit more cumbersome (not seeing local apps, US apps, etc)
Can anyone help me?
Is this even something I can ask the Genius Bar?
