Q: Clearing your history turns OFF private browsing!
Well, the Sneaky McSneaker Sneaks that developed the latest iphone update pulled a fast one that I nearly missed:
BEFORE the update: If you were in Private Browsing mode in Safari and cleared your history/Browsing data in Settings, your browser remained in Private Browsing mode.
BUT NOW: If you are in Private Browsing mode in Safari and you clear your History/Browsing Data, your browser is no longer in private mode! Obviously, this will allow Apple, and whoever else has access to that kind of data (their partners? etc), to get all sorts of stuff. . . if it didn't, why would they have changed this?
I'm guessing this little tidbit is buried somewhere in the document that everybody does not read and just clicks Accept.
I find it annoying, but not the end of the world. Whenever you clear your history/browsing data, please remember to: 1) Re-open Safari, then
2) Access that bottom panel where you can open a new window, and
3) Touch Private on the left side to re-activate your private browsing.
Good luck keeping up with this stuff. I'm hoping to see this becoming more noticed on cnet, gizmode, komando.com, etc.
