Q: Sierra - Yahoo mail persistently off-line

Since installing Sierra, Yahoo mail is persistently off line, any suggestions?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Yahoo mail twice but still not working.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), macOS Sierra (10.12), Yahoo web mail works well

    Hello Simon,

Thank you for your suggestion. I know the grey text 'box' you refer to and 'Toggle Mail Boxes' is on. It shows:-

In boxes, Flagged, Drafts etc but not the folders that were set up while previously using El Capitan. I have Synced and tried everything I can think of but still no folders. HELP!

Hi - it should appear as slightly different text below and left aligned to the Inbox once you're connected.  If you access your email via the web are the folders there?  If not, did you set them up in the Mac mail programme originally?

    Hi Simon,

    I've cured it - HOORAY.

I right clicked on the Btinternet Mail Box, clicked on Get Account Info, then highlighted 'Quota Limits', it listed all of the BT Yahoo mail boxes, clicked on one of those folders and as if by magic, all of the mail folders appeared in a fresh Mac Mail window.

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Well I thought I had cured the problem but no.

To access the Btinternet. mail folders, I have to right click on to Btinternet In Box, click Get Account Info, highlight Quota Limits, click on Show Messages and all folders appear IN A NEW MAC MAIL WINDOW. So, I then close the incomplete first Mail window and continue with the new on.

If anyone has any way of overcoming this problem, it really would be appreciated.

Hi - is it possible to send a screen shot showing the left hand menu in mail, like below?  And what you see in account info - again like below?

Thanks - I need to see the bits highlighted in the image; the arrow points to a box showing number of emails (unopened), the circled bit should show your email account, and below which should be the folder list.  If you hover your move over/to left of the box (arrow) a show/hide popup should allow you to show/hide the folder list - is this happening?

Thanks for your reply. Below is the image I think you request. The + within the dark circle to the right of the 'Smart Mailboxes' does offer the option to show/hide. Is this the info you are after?

It's not the + to the right of the Smart Mailboxes.  Hover over/to the right of "Btinternet" and the show/hide should come up.  Also try the account below (although I assume this is either a separtae account or left from the auto set-up)...

    Hello Simon,

Hovering over to the right of the Btinternet mailbox or the one beneath does not produce the show/hide option at all unfortunately.

When originally setting up Btinternet following installation of OS Sierra, I had to set it up from the 'Other' options as from trying Yahoo nothing worked at all.

Hi - if you go to Yahoo mail on the web and login there do you have your mail folders?

    Hi – might be an indexing issue.  Could try the following, in order of least hassle – see if works before trying the next;

    1. Go to 'Internet Accounts' click on the Yahoo account and uncheck the mail box, then recheck it and restarted mail
    2. Rename account and sync it, then rename back and sync again
    3. Export Inbox, and import it back

There are more drastic options moving files from ~/Library/.../MailData to get it to index, but try the above first...

    Simon.
