Q: Tracks won't start!

I recently switched from Spotify to Apple Music and am using the service on all my devices (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPhone 6 and iPad Air). I have not downloaded any of my songs to make them available offline but am instead streaming everything directly from Apple Music via the device to either earphones or over WiFi to my stereo (through AirPort Express). More and more often tracks won't start playing when I initiate them - instead of the usual track progress bar all I see is a blue line. Sometimes it helps to change track, but most often not. This only happens on my laptops and the iPad, not on the phone. I have no statistics, but I have the feeling that this is happening more and more often. I've tried everything I can think of - rebooting, updating, playing via ethernet and WiFi, moving around the house, and restarting routers. The only thing that seems to help is to have iTunes loaded in the background for a couple of hours before starting to play, at which time I don't seem to have a problem. Is it a question of limited server capacity from Apple's side or have I missed something fundamental? It's worth to note that I never once had a similar problem with Spotify so I strongly suspect it's got to do with the Apple Music software/service.
