Q: Back up disc fails to back up
Yesterdy I have upgraded to MacOs Sierra. Everything works well, but since the upgrade, my back up disc refuses to back up. It sees the disc as an "only read' disc. Before the upgrade it worked normal. What went possibly wrong and what and how can I change it? Thanks in advance.

The used external harddisc is a seagate plus portable 3.5 inch drive 1 gb. I have always used it as back up drive in combination with time machine. I'm not sure how it was formatted, but I did so with the Apple instructions. Never had any problem, until the upgrade to Sierra. the drive is recognised, but only as "read only", which was not the case before. Hope this information helps?
Thank you, is likely was formatted a Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Were you using it as a Time Machine backup HD? If so first reset the SMC and PRAM (the SMC may take 2-3 attempts). Please use the link below for instructions. If those resets fail, connect the EHD with another cable and re-test. If that fails, then your Seagate may have failed and needs to be replaced.
