Q: I accidentally clicked on a link on my computer.

I accidentally clicked on a link on my computer. I have Yosemite 10.10.5. I am now getting location verification questions for an address that I think is the one I opened up. Does this mean I have a virus and what should I do?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

It is probably just requesting your location and isn't a virus. Try going to System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Privacy, unlock the padlock, and see if there is a box you can uncheck which stops the requests. Safari is probably the logical choice.

I am now getting a sense that it is "advertising sites" attached to some links I have legitimately clicked on. The problem is when I go to Safari and empty my cache folder & clear my history, some of these sites reappear in the cache folder and I can't get rid of them. This is annoying and I wish I knew how to scrub them permanently.
