Q: Reminders Don't Show or Stick to Lock Screen in iOS10

In iOS10 (and 10.0.1 and 10.0.2), on an iPhone (I'm using an iPhone 6), the Reminders are no longer reliable. I have had several instances where the reminder doesn't even show on the lock screen, and many more times when the reminder doesn't "stick" to the lock screen for more than a short period. Before iOS10, when you said to remind you at a certain time or place, the reminder would show on the lock screen reliably until it was marked as "completed."

This is a major issue for people that rely on the app for important tasks and timing. There is a whole discussion thread on this that for some reason has been marked as "solved" even though a large number of people continue posting in it saying it's a problem for them too (that thread can be found here). I wanted to start this new discussion that will hopefully stay open until it is actually solved.

THANK YOU!!!! This is a HUGE issue!

Since the update I have had to reboot my phone EVERY day.

Either the reminders stick .. or they don't. Lately they don't even show up. Then other things stick to the lock screen that I can't get rid of.

Currently this feature on the phone is USELESS

That thread was absolutely not solved.  The "Community Specialist" referred to Reminders notification settings.  He does not refer to any specific settings that might pertain to the issue.  At any rate, my settings are all activated (including "Show on Lock Screen") and the problem persists.

I'm really surprised Apple hasn't discovered/fixed that problem yet. I really regret upgrading to iOS 10 now. I personally consider the Reminders to be one of the most important feature on my iPhone. I use the reminders as a task scheduler to make sure I never forget anything during my day. Because of that bug, I got a parking ticket + I also missed taking my medications twice!

This is more than an "annoying bug", it's a must-have feature. Please fix this as soon as possible.

My reply from the other thread on this subject that got incorrectly marked as solved:

I have recently found that the problem is more than just reminder notifications disappearing from the lock screen.  Sometimes reminder notifications don't appear at all. For example, I have a recurring reminder that is scheduled for 6pm every day.  Today my phone (6 plus) had been locked from 4pm to about 6:25 pm.  At 6:25 I pressed the power button to turn on the screen and the notification for my 6pm reminder was not on the lock screen. I unlocked my phone and noticed there was no count badge on the reminders app (meaning no overdue reminders). However, as soon as I opened the reminders app, that 6pm reminder instantly got marked in red as overdue.  Other days the notification for that same reminder works perfectly.  It's completely random (and not just on that particular reminder).

Because of this problem, I reverted back to IOS 9.3.5.

*Possible* solution.  Delete/complete all your Reminders that were created before the iOS "upgrade."  Then re-create them.  I set a test Reminder for today and so far a) it appeared at the correct time; b) it is "sticking" to the lock screen (so far).

Unfortunately that doesn't do anything. I use this app constantly and so I have created many new reminders since updating. All have experienced these same issues.

All - I tried recreating them and they STILL don't work. APPLE .. you need to fix this.

This is truly the glitchy-ist update ever! Siri is SLOW to respond .. some things appear on lock screen when they aren't supposed to ..

I am seriously thinking about reverting to an old version!

As noted on the previous thread, I also have this issue. I had not noted this before but I also (as some other posters noted) am occasionally missing the count badge, which makes the problem significantly worse (it's bad enough not having a reminder on my notifications page).

I have some reminders for which the alerts won't "go away" from the lock screen or keep coming back!

I have several lists with many critical reminders with alerts I rely on daily! These are all new reminders on a new iphone 7 and it happens a few differrent ways:

    1. sometimes the alert appears on the lock screen and then won't go away when I click on it and select completed or remind me tomorrow or remind me in 1 hour. nothing.  oh and what happened to snooze 15 minutes option!!??!!??!??

    2. Sometimes I swipe the reminder to the right (from the lock screen) and the reminder disappears but nothing else happens (reminder is supposed to and usually does open in the app for editing, but does not do this consistently).

in these cases, the alert will keep coming back, consistently and very often.  Even if I delete the reminder it takes days for the old alert to go away.  I have started re-booting my phone daily to see if that will get rid of the "stuck" alerts.

    I have an iphone 7 so I don't know if I can revert to ios 9.5 - can I ?

I have also experienced the "alertst that never come or come too late" and its a HUGE problem. \ My whole life, family, etc. relies on the reminders app and it needs fixing ASAP!

I'm on 10.1 beta 4 and it seems that this issue has been fixed. Getting my reminder timely so far.

Thanks for the info.  Please let us know if the problem returns. After a phone restart (which applying a beta update would do) the problem does not immediately return.  I really hope the beta fixes it for good.

I had this same problem, but I may have found a solution. It's working for me so far, and I'm on iOS 10.0.2.

I went to my reminders, touched "edit" and "Delete List", deleting all of my reminders AND the Reminders list (not sure if this is a critical step or not). The "Reminders" list was then gone, which I'm pretty sure I couldn't do before.  Then I clicked the "+" next to the search bar at the top of the Reminders app to add a new item, and it gave me the option to create a new reminder instead of a new list, which I did. It put the new reminder in a list called "Scheduled" which has an alarm icon on the right instead of the number of items. So far, the reminders I've added there have "stuck" on my lock screen until I mark them complete.

Scheduled just means that it's coming up.  It's not a list.
