Historic Health and Activity data is stored on your iPhone. It is not saved separately to iCloud.
To guard against the loss of this data, be sure to make regular backups of your iPhone.
If backing up via iTunes, ensure that you select the option to Encrypt iPhone backup (unencrypted backups exclude sensitive data, including Health and Activity). iCloud backups are encrypted as standard.

Oct 7, 2016 11:51 AMby Jiffer,I backed up my entire iphone before the upgrade, however on iOS10.2 when my phone turned on all my activity was gone, I can't restore from a backup now because my phone is on 10 and will not downgrade to 9, and if i do that my 3.0 watch will not work... and there is no rolling back your watch.

Oct 7, 2016 12:02 PMby Jiffer,i did a iCLoud backup before i upgraded. I see my backup when my phone restarted and it promped me if i would like to restore from that last back up, I hit yes, then i get a message saying you are currently on a newer version of iOS and this backup is not supported. the whole things seems like a crap shoot to me.
