Q: iTunes 12.5.1.21 keeps freezing (macOS Sierra 10.12)
New install of macOS 10.12
updated iTunes to 12.5.1.21
Fresh system install on newly formatted SSD drive.
MacBook Pro 9,2 (mid 2012)
i5 2.5GHz / 8 GB Mem / 120 GB SSD / 1 TB HDD (Fusion Drive with 2 partitions)
I've had the system running about 3 days so all the spotlight caches should be done.
I have 600 GB of music and videos added to iTunes (90,000+ songs).
iTunes will play for a few minutes then hang with spinning curser and no sound for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Activity Monitor shows iTunes not responding and iTunes processor usage drops from 90% to almost nothing.
I notice that iTunes is using a lot of processor time and sometimes up to 120%. There are no other large processes going in background and memory looks fine.
I have tuned off network just to be sure it's not lagging due to slow responses from iTunes Store.
Spotlight does not show large cpu usage either.
So the question is: How to fix the freezing?
I suspect maybe iTunes is still caching ...
