Q: Single Click Acts Like Double Click

Suddenly when I click on things like a file name in finder or a email in Mail, instead of highlighting it, it acts as though I have double clicked on it--opening the file. Even for fixing spelling it often highlights word instead of inserting the cursor. This is annoying and as I was trying to rename files because virtually impossible. does not do it every time, but most. Just started in last few days with no changes to settings that I am aware of (I am only one to use the computer). I did try changing to double-click speed in settings, to no avail.

I am using a MacBook Pro running 10.10.5

My mouse is logitch wireless mouse

Did you go to System Preferences/Accessibly/Mouse to change the double click speed setting?

Have you added any new software? Are you using and cleaning or antivirus programs? Have you tried a restart?
