After bluetooth headphone got paired, device not appearing in sound output preferences

Hi All

I am running MacBook Pro with Yosemite 10.10. I bought a new bluetooth headphone (boat rockerz 400). I am able to successfully pair the device with My mac. After pairing, the sound is not coming through headphones. When I checked sound settings, the device is not listed in output devices list. Only internal speaker is listed there. Mac is indeed detecting it as an audio device , because when I click on bluetoot symbol on menu bar and navigate to the connected device, 2 options are available (1. disconnect 2. sound preferences). I guess sound preferences option will not come in case of a regular bluetooth device (like a phone).

I already tried resetting the bluetooth module using the debug option, but no luck. Please help!

Hey sibifromalleppey,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I can see from your post that you're having issues with connecting the Bluetooth on your Mac to your new headphones and would like to offer some help to get this working normally for you. I can see that you've already tried some steps to get this working. If you haven't done so already we may need to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) as well. This is sometimes necessary to restore normal lower level system functionality to your Mac, particularly for power and hardware related issues like connectivity including USB ports, Bluetooth, Volume control, the Keyboard, etc. The steps to do this are in the link below.
