imessage GIF app drains insanely fast

I upgraded to the latest iOS update and I downloaded a GIF app for imessage. So in the imessage app i scroll down and try to find a gif to send. This takes an INSANE amount of battery on a short amount of time. Is this normal, should I delete it?

Thats the first question.

Now the second.

In general, if I encounter apps that drain too quickly battery, should I delete them, because they can "harm" my battery life time or something like that? I always try to charge my battery around 20-25-->post 100%.

Any help would be highly highly highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
