Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your MacBook Air since upgrading to macOS Sierra. Since attachment downloads can be affected by your network connection (including connection speed), we should probably focus on that initially. If you are having issues with your connection to the Internet via WiFi (highly likely if you are using a MacBook Air), you may find the information and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

Thank you for that, but prior to downloading OSx Sierra, I was downloading attachments with no problem, and the wifi is working perfectly. Do you have any other suggestion?

It's a bit unclear; is your internet connection to your MacBook working fine now (no longer slow)? Also, what exactly happens when you try to download an email attachment (nothing/fails silently, gives you an alert/error message, appears to start downloading and hangs, etc)? Does the size or file type of the attachment seem to have any effect?

Oct 11, 2016 1:03 AM in response to joe_7399by edocsok,Hi Joe,
My wifi never was slow after downloading Sierra....It is just that on safari in email, when I tried to download any attachment pdf or photo, NOTHING would happen.
Then this morning without having done anything more, suddenly I could download those very same files. I don't understand why some 3 or 4 days later it is properly working, but am glad it is.
Thank you for responding!
Regards,
