Q: Wifi drops after Upgrading to Sierra

I have MacBook Air 11 (Mid 2011) With 4Gb Ram.

I have no problem with my wifi when I my operating system was El Capitan.

Recently when I upgrade my OS to Sierra, my wifi connection become temperamental.

After being an idle and wake up my Mac the wifi connection was Ok.

And then after 10 minutes it started to drop my connection and start looking for wifi and sometimes I ended up with network diagnostics.

I wondering if this issue happen only to my MacBook or anyone had the same issue after upgrading to Sierra?

Anyone know what causing it and how to fix it?

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12)

    Hi HieiAze,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your MacBook Air after the recent upgrade to Sierra. I believe this may have been what you meant by network diagnostics, but just to double-check, if you continue to have intermittent but persistent issues with your WiFi connection, you may want to use Wireless Diagnostics as outlined in the following article. In particular, the Monitor function is useful for trying to catch and document intermittent issues:

We have had the same experience and are pretty fed up...after months of trouble free wifi connection on El Capitan.  We have an imac, macbook pro and macbook air - exactly the same on all three as soon as we upgraded to Sierra...they all keep dropping wifi connection every couple of minutes (if you're lucky!).  What's the fix Apple?

Having the same problem on my iMac, and have been reading that it is common with Sierra.  I'm hoping Apple will come up with a solution very soon.  Every time I wake my computer up, I have to go through diagnostics to get my wifi to reconnect.  It's time consuming and frustrating.

Same problem on iMac since installing Sierrra. Every single time the Mac sleeps it disconnects from wifi. Every single time it wakes up it requires an active re-establishment of the wifi connection which is time consuming and annoying. When is a OS fix coming Apple??

I found this elsewhere, and so far it seems to be working.  "The only fix that had any consistent effect was disabling “Wake for network access” under the “Energy Saver” settings in System Preferences."

Of course, that doesn't help with the extremely slow wifi, dramatically slower performance overall or the fact that my computer keeps shutting itself down and/or I have to keep force quitting different applications, all of which are threatening to drive me insane, and all since the installation of Sierra, but one step at a time...
