pop up problem apple id verification

I recently upgraded to ios 10.0.2 on my iphone 6. I am now getting a continual popup (every 13 seconds) asking me for the password to an apple id that is connected to my previous apple id that I changed because that email account expired. I cannot change my apple id back to the old account even temporarily because it sends the verification code to that email address that no longer exists. This is very annoying and makes it difficult to use my phone.

If you can sign out of Find my iPhone it isn't your iCloud ID that it is asking for. When you changed your Apple ID, did you go to appleid.apple.com and just change the email address, or did you create a new Apple ID? If you created a new one all purchased and downloaded iTunes Store content (music and apps) is still tied to the old Apple ID, and will be forever. The only solution is to delete all apps downloaded with that ID and redownload or re-purchase them.

If you just changed the email address on your existing account go to all places where the Apple ID is used and sign out, then sign in again.

In Settings:

  • iTunes & App Stores
  • Facetime
  • Messages
  • iCloud (only if you haven't already done that when you changed IDs)
