Create AAC & ringtones using iTunes v12.5.1.21
Not a question, but a solution for the creating ringtones in itunes issue. I worked this out myself and this seems to work: (please feel free to share and pass on if it works for you)
Create ringtones using iTunes version 12.5.1.21
In this latest version of iTunes 'convert to AAC' has been moved (not taken away)
Choose iTunes > Preferences, click General, and click Import Settings
In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert songs to, and click OK to save the settings
Select one or more songs in your library and choose File > Create New Version > Create [AAC] Version [will now be in the menu]
The song in its original format and the newly converted song appear in your library.
Copy the AAC file to your desktop and right click and choose Get Info to change the format from .m4a to .m4r in the Name & Extension section and hit Enter.
The pop up will ask you if you want to use the .m4r , choose Use .m4r
Close the Get Info box
In iTunes, select Tones from the drop down menu Music
Drag the .m4r desktop file into the Tones section and check to see if your ringtones comes up in the Tones list
Plug in your device and sync Tones to move the new ringtone to your device
