Q: People Problems in Photos

I have three favorite People, each with more than 2000 photos.  Every time I double click on those three people, it crashes Photos.

So I highlighted one of these people, and got info.  The number of photos in the info window does not match the number of photos under the person's name.

So then I thought, let me just change the Person's name to another version of that person's name as a work-around.  Photos will not allow me to rename that person.

So then I went into the photos library (the root library at the top of the sidebar, NOT in the People sidebar) and tried to manually change the name of a person in the problem People file.  No go - Photos not allowing me to change the person's name.

SO then I called Apple Support and I quickly got elevated and they gave me a case number because I've stumped everyone over there too.  They had me rebuild my database which did not fix the problem.

So now I'm seeing if any geniuses here have any ideas.  To me it sounds like a permissions issue but I can't figure out how to repair permissions in Disk Utility on the new OS Sierra.  I wish I could go into the Problem People Files and strip all their names away and start again!  But short of doing that for... 15,000 pictures, I don't even know where to start.

Any ideas???

Thanks!
