Q: Can I eliminate duplicate albums?

In iTunes v.12.5.1.21 I have duplicates of the same albums in "Albums" view. Apparently I imported from the same CD two different times. Can I combine them so I only see one album? Thank you.

An album to iTunes is all songs that have the exact same entry for the Album field.  I would show your music library list using the Songs view, to show a plain list with columns.  Click heading of the Album column, to sort your song list by Album name (click it again if you need to reverse order).  Find the two albums that are actually the same album.

If this album is fully duplicated (all songs appear twice on library song list), select all songs on the album set you want to remove, and press Delete on keyboard (or right-click selection and Delete).

NOTE:  To select consecutive items at the same time on an iTunes list, click first item, hold down Shift key, and click last item.  The two clicked items and all items in between are selected at the same time.

If neither album is complete, individually remove songs that are duplicated.  Then, select all remaining album songs at the same time.  Right-click selection (all songs on this ONE album) and Get Info.  A (multi-item) Info window appears.  On the Info window Details tab, find album field.  Re-enter that entry exactly the way you want.  When you click OK, all songs on that album have the exact same entry for Album, so iTunes treats it as one album.

Thanks. It took time but I discovered that the reason I had several duplicated albums is that in "Get Info/Details" there were differences including subtleties like brackets and parentheses. Also, some duplicated albums had "Album is a compilation of songs by various artists" checked & unchecked. Now all the duplicates are gone.
