iMovies for OS X 10.10.5.
How do I purchase iMovies for OS X 10.10.5.? The reviews on the latest version of iMovie seem poor, by and large. Any suggestions?

Previous versions of iMovie are no longer for sale by Apple. You would need to purchase them from a 3rd party vendor like ebay or Amazon. I believe iMovie 9 would be in the iMovie '11 iLife package.
You would be locked in to Yosemite because iM9 is not fully compatible with El Capitan, and probably not with Sierra.
