Q: note collaboration only works one way?

Just to clarify from the beginning, both my boyfriend and I have iOS10 installed. I recently shared a note with him so we could edit it together (a wish list for stuff for our new house) and he went to town on editing it, but when I went to look at what was on it, it was just the same note as it was when I shared it with him. To test, I tried editing it, the edits I made got synced over to his note, but anything he edited didn't get sent to my note? Does the collaboration feature only work one way (i.e. from the creator to the invitee)? Any help or suggestions would be great, as I absolutely love the idea of this new feature.

Thanks

    Good question!

Only you can make changes in a shared note.

    The above comes from here:

Share your notes - Apple Support

But I believe you could use Pages to do what you're trying to do - have more than one person update a document.

UPDATE - No, on second thought, I think I've misread the article.  I now think it's saying only you control who accesses the note.  Please read the whole article and be certain you have set up the sharing correctly.  Sorry for the misinterpretation above.

I just checked further.  The person you're sharing with must, of course, accept your invitation to share.  The note then gets updated both ways - either person may update it and both see the update.
