Mouse Cursor Misplacement with External Monitor

I found another interesting thing.

When I'm using Windows 10 virtual machine in full screen mode - no problems with mouse in Windows 10 screen, while there are still problems with mouse on other native macOS desktops simultaneously.

Something else I noticed today, in Sketchup (utterly un-usable with the issue at hand) there's also a difference of rendering between the left & right. The blue selection "overlay" (blue dots) are showing darker on the left side:

Not sure anyone can see the images in those posts - I can't.

BTW, so far the quickest way to temporarily eliminate the problem for me is to preview the screen saver in the preferences.

As a photographer I had huge problems with this mouse cursor problem on my 2014 fully loaded 15" mbp using an external Dell 4k monitor. It was so bad I had resorted to editing clients pictures directly on the mbp without using the external monitor - not ideal. Well, just downloaded the Adobe cc updates for Lightroom and Ps and all is ok now! Phew.

Indeed. After update of Lightroom CC to 2015.8 and Camera Raw to 9.8 via Creative Cloud it seems that problem is gone.

I had this problem too on a 27" Dell 5K Display, hooked to a rMBP mid-2014, i7@2,5 and GT750M. Tried all the workarounds and the solutions lasted for a few minutes only.

My solution: I uninstalled all Adobe applications and the problem is gone. Now I can finally enjoy this beautiful display.

Unfortunately the problem came back.

It is much less frequent with latest Adobe CC installed, but it comes back.

Yes, same here. It's good though that we could identify it as a software problem and hopefully someone will come up with a fix if Apple doesn't do it.

The trick with changing the color profile from System Preferences > Display >Color seems to work. But not for all profiles. This is way too weird.

This is very frustrating,

I just updated to 10.12.2 and i still have the problem, i un-installed all start-up apps and i still have the problem.

I guess there nothing else to do, i switch colour profiles, fixes problem for a bit. then it happens again.

This is not even ridiculous!

What's going there at Apple. Are they completely nuts? Are they going to loose all the users, that though Mac's are professional?

Today I've had some look at new MacBook Pro at Apple Store. Yes, this is nice, but I won't be buying it. For that money I'll have extremely powerful PC, and I will have to live with Windows. At least it will work with 4K display.

Pawel, unfortunately we're not that many, the people who use UHD displays with the macbook pro. So Apple will most likely not invest efforts in such an isolated issue. Especially because the new LG 5K monitor is coming out, perfectly fit for the new rMBP

it was really bad today, whole day trying to do graphics for a project with a totally bonkers cursor / mouse interface!

Unplugged monitor again and soldiered on with with the laptop screen.

This is becoming a nightmare.

I chose to go back to El Capitan. Everything seems fine so far. Good work, Apple.
