iPhone 7 LTE Issue

Got my iPhone 7 with AT & T when it first came out. When LTE is on, my signal becomes extremely unreliable. And I get dropped calls frequently. It doesn't matter if it is data only or VoIP. When I put my phone up next to my dad's iPhone 6, he has full bars consistently where ever we go and has LTE on and I usually only have only one bar. What is up with that? So now I keep LTE off which has solved my problem. But what is the point of having a new iPhone with LTE if you can't use LTE?

No necessarily.

I am also having this issue on my new iPhone 7 Plus (Verizon). So are thousands of others. My iphone 6s has never had this issue. Symptoms are is that everything will be working fine and your phone shows a strong signal and LTE status. At random times, you'll notice that your iPhone 7 has now dropped LTE and is stuck on 3G or even 1x even though the LTE signal is very good. Only way to transition back to LTE is turn airplane mode on and then off, or turn off LTE and/or cellular and then back on. At some random point in the future, the phone will do the same thing...sometimes even during a call and you have to do the "workaround" again. This problem also can cause random dropped calls.

This is all over the web. Just search for "iPhone 7 LTE dropping"

Over in Verizon forum someone reporting doing a General->Reset->Reset All Settings ( *not* "Erase All Contents and Settings") to fix the issue of LTE dropping out to 3G or 1x on iPhone 7, even in strong signal strength areas.

I tried this and, so far, it's looking like it might have worked. The issue might be caused by people restoring their backups from earlier phones to their iPhone 7 models. "Reset All Settings" puts your iPhone 7 into the default settings configuration without affecting your installs apps, etc. You do need to redo your Touch ID and re-sign into iCloud, resign into Messages and re-configure some settings.

just got this issue today on my 7+ since i got the phone no lte problems but today i randomly got it. I did a restore worked but then came bake i just tried reset all setting to see if that helps. I am on Sprint so its not just a Verizon thing maybe more a cdma thing as i am not sure if any tmobile or att people have this issue. It will be on lte then go to one x if i goto the settings and turn of lte it goes to 3g and seems steady. I know its not a sprint issue cause my girlfriend was right next to me we are on the same family plan and both 32gb 7+ black with iOS 10.0.2 so everything is the same guess i just got bad luck. This issue is very reminiscent of my iPhone 5 it did the same thing till ios8 came out so hopefully a software thing with Qualcomm.
