Q: Apple Photos - Import RAW + JPG

Hello again,

after searching the Internet again, I've found the solution: That file-pair NEF+JPEG is already imported by the "Photos"-app independently. However, only the JPEG file is displayed (recognizable by the small box with the "J" in the lower left corner of the image) - go to this litte "J" box with the cursor (no click): In my case the following discription appears: "RAW + JPEG: JPEG is the original". In the "shadow" of the "J"-box you can see a second box, which should indicate the RAW-box. The RAW file is actually also imported, but not visible and can not be called as an original (grayed out) via the menu item "Image". To switch from JPEG to RAW, proceed as follows:

1. Double click on the preview-image to open it.

2. Click "Edit" above the right side of the picture (do not click on the menu-field with the same name in the upper menu-line - indeed, this is confusing). The editing options appears (Improve, Rotate, Crop, Filter etc.)

3. Click on "Image" in the menu line and now you can call the previously grayed command "Use RAW as original".

4. Complete the "Edit" with "Finish". Now the image in the small box in the lower left corner has an "R".

5. If necessary, you can also undo all this - in the same way.

If you want to use all the photos with the RAW-file as the original - this could costs a lot of time (I didn't find a way, to do so for all files at once). But this is probably not necessary, since only a few images become better than the existing JPEG's with RAW-editing.
