Q: Can't add items in Home Movies to iPad

I have added several movies to iTunes and they show up in Home Movies folder.  When I try to sync them to my iPad from iTunes nothing happens.  I don't get any errors just clicking "Add to Device" does nothing.  It works fine when adding items to my other son's iPad.  Why would it not allow me to add on this iPad?

Thanks,

Dan

    Hi dclash,

Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like you have movies in iTunes that wont sync to your iPad, but they will sync to your son's iPad.

Are you and your son using the same model iPad? If yours is an earlier model, it may not support the video format you're using.

As a test, try converting one of the movies to an iPad friendly format before syncing:

If your videos from iTunes can't be played on your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Apple TV - Apple Support

Convert a video for iPad or Apple TV

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Select the video that you want to convert.
    3. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose File > Create New Version > "Create iPad or Apple TV Version."
Windows: Hold down the Control and B keys on your keyboard to open the iTunes menu bar, then choose File > Create New Version > "Create iPad or Apple TV Version." Learn more about menus in iTunes for Windows.

Let us know if you and your son are using identical iPad models, or you can't sync the converted movies.

    Sincerely.

Is your ipad on the same account as your son's?   Does the icon show up in iTunes when you connect? If so have you tried just dragging and dropping the video into the icon.  That works for me and is the easiest way I think.
