How do I please restart my Mac as 64 bit? It was started as 32 bit to accommodate a programme no longer used on this Mac. Many thanks.
iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
Restart the machine while holding down the 6 and 4 keys.
Yosemite runs ONLY as a 64-bit operating system.
It will happily run both 32 and 64-bit programs.
If you have a 32-bit System Preferences Panel, you will need to restart System Preferences as 32 bits, but only while you are running that 32-bit preference panel
