Macbook Air display is extremely dim + logo not lightened up. The night before it was working perfectly. Tried restarting, tried re charging, tried a bit of banging too (not really). SOMEONE SAVE ME FROM THE HORROR.

Go step by step and test.
Press F2 key couple of times.
Reset NVRAM/PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18761
Reset SMC. Choose the method for “If the battery is nonremovable”.

Have you tried pressing [fn] and [f2]?
Did they suggest anything?
Did contact Apple after days of desperate attempts.
