2 x Bose Headphones not working with Lighting to Audio Adaptor

Recently upgraded from Android phone to Iphone 7. I have 2 different pairs of Bose headphones with in-line remotes designed to work with Android (sound sport and qc20) . I understand the remote will not work completely with any Iphone, however, I am not able to (clearly) listen to music on either pair of head phones when plugged in using the lighting to audio adaptor. There is a loud "clicking" noise regardless of whether audio is being played.

I tried my lighting to audio adaptor in another iPhone7 (in the Perth Apple store) and didn't have the issue so they replaced my iPhone7. Next step is to return iPhone and purchase new Android phone. I had the issue before and after upgrading to the latest iOS.

iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.2

I found another solution. I also use the Bose QC20 actually designed for android (there are versions for iOS to allow the in-line remote control to work).

1) Plug in the ear phones fully into the 3,5mm to lightning adapter.

2) Plopping/Ticking sound appears periodically

3) Press the volume up button on the in-line remote several times or long press it.

4) Ticking/plopping sound stops and you are ready to go. The in-line remote commands however do not work then.

This appears to be a software error and I now have a temporary fix (works for me at least).

Insert the headphones partially into the lighting to audio adaptor you should hear the loud clicking/popping noise, if not you have not plugged them in far enough or more likely you have plugged them in too far. Wait about 5 seconds (or 5 'pops') and the noise should stop, then plug the headphones in fully.

None of the buttons on the inline remote (or microphone) work but sounds is perfect. I'm guessing this method tricks the iPhone software into thinking it is a pair of normal headphones without in-line controls.

Reminder: this issue only occurs with 'Android' (not made for iPhone) headphones with an in-line remote. See: http://mashtips.com/apple-headphone-on-android-or-windows/

I have had the same issue - tried erasing my phone, restoring it completely to factory settings via iTunes, and changing the lightning adapter in store. My headphones have a loud popping noise and also tried several pairs out in the bose store and all did the same! Waiting for an appointment (albeit the first available was next Saturday!) to try and get my £700 phone that has never worked and I can't listen to music on fixed!

The half plugging in the headphones and waiting for them to stop clicking trick works for me as well. Thank you!

I can also confirm that it is an android inline mic issue not just a Bose issue. I have a pair of Samsung Level Up headphones that have a removable aux cable. With the provided cord it will click, if I remove that cord and use a plain 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable they work fine. Hopefully they can fix with software update.
