Q: My MacBook does not see my Apple Phone

I am on same network, same Apple ID. I can see my phone, my iPad from my watch, my watch from the "Find My iPhone" app. From my BlueTooth search on my MacBook I see my iPad, (connected). From my MacBook I do not see my Apple Phone but it is saying "searching". My Apple Watch is in Bluetooth searching mode.

Why won't they connect?

My goal is to have to no longer log into my Mac when wearing my watch.

Connecting the phone to the computer is not supported. What are you trying to do? If you wish to move data. use Airdrop.

See the following for instructions on how to setup auto unlock: Automatically unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

You need to have Bluetooth turned on in your Mac but the Mac does not and will not pair with the other devices. See the following for more information on how they connect without pairing: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with another iOS device or with my computer?

I Found my answer on YouTube. It turns out my MacBook has a dated buetooth that does not support this function. Maybe time for an upgrade. Mid 2012
