Q: Sharing photos to iPhone, iPad, Mac

I have an iPhone and an iPad that I'd like more recent photos on. I have a Mac that I'd like to store all photos. I would like my photos in iCloud for extra assurance they will be preserved.

I realize this is a settings issue. What should I have my settings on?

iPad 2, iOS 6.1.4, I worked better before iCloud tok o

    There are three options

iCloud Photo Library, which will share the same photos between devices and have them available in the cloud. That means if all photos are on the Mac they will be on iPad and iPhone, however you can choose to optimize storage for the mobile devices so only a low resolution thumbnail is produced, with the full image only loading when you select a photo to view.

The photo stream will show the most recent images and can be enabled for just the mobile devices (photos taken on IOS automatically upload, you can manually add as well). However there is a limit of 1,000, and photos will only stay for up to 30 days.

Shared albums can hold 5,000 but you have to manually create and add to them.

Your choices are as vazandrew cited above, however, using iCloud does not in any way preserve your photos. iCloud Photo Library is a syncing service not an archival service, so once you turn it on, then any device or computer that is signed into the iCloud Photo Library with the same iCloud account can update, edit, or delete the photos in the iCloud Photo Library, and the updates will be pushed back to all of them.

Sharing your most recent photos with your other iOS devices and your Mac is best accomplished by setting up and signing into iCloud on all devices and computers that you want to sync with, and then turning on Photo Stream:

If you want to import your photos to your Mac, you can do so by following the instructions in the article below:

If you want to start sharing photo albums or individual photos from your iOS devices or your Mac with yourself or others, you can use the iCloud Photo Sharing service once you set up your iCloud account:
