Q: New Windows PC

Hello,

I have a couple of questions which will probably seem a bit basic, I have had a couple of computers that have gone pop, without me getting the chance to de- authorise them, ITunes thinks I am up to 5 authorised computers but I only have 3. If I press the “de-authorise all” button will that affect the music on the PC and 2 lap tops that I keep my music on, once they have been authorised again?

The second question is, I have just changed my PC and loaded all the music that was previously on it via family sharing. All my play lists are on still my IPhone, is there any way of getting my play lists that are on my IPhone back on to the Playlist section of ITunes?

Thank you

David

    Hey David!

For the first question, deauthorizing all your machines will just make it so the iTunes purchases can't be played until you re-authorize them. While this should prompt you when you try to play a purchased item for the first time, you can also do this from the Account > Authorizations menu on Windows.

For the second question, depending on how your music syncing is set up you may be able to connect your iPhone to your PC (either by wireless syncing or connecting via USB). If you're manually managing your music, you should be able to open the iPhone > Music menus on the PC in iTunes and then copy/drag the playlist to your PC's library.

Regarding the second question, see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. There are a couple of scripts listed near the bottom that can import playlists and metadata from a device.

    Hello,

Thank you for the replies, I have  hit the de-authorise all tab and authorised the computers I need to, as for the second part of the question I made a right mess of that and have lost all of my play lists, Its not the end of the world, no one will be weeping for me in Aleppo tonight, but it is a pity as there was a lot of lists on there. I'm a 7T's soul fan and every time we go to a night out I make a CD for the company we go out with, then save it as a playlist. On a different note If I sync my apps will I lose all of them as non of them are showing in ITunes

    Thanks Again

The user tip should guide you through the necessary steps to secure all of your content. Apps can be redownloaded from the iTunes Store. They are no longer transferred into iTunes from a device, but as long as you backup the device to iTunes and then restore, any private app data is restored and apps will be downloaded from the store over wi-fi as required. If you have media on the device that wasn't purchased from the iTunes Store this can be extracted from the device, likewise playlists. Take it slowly. Don't sync until everything you might extract has been recovered, and you've backed up the device.
