Q: Comparing the MacBook to MacBook Air 13-inch

Heya!

So I've been debating updating my MacBook this year, possibly using a holiday bonus. When looking at the MacBook and MacBook Air 13", it looks like the MacBook Air is actually a better choice which is a little confusing to me. http://www.apple.com/mac/compare/results/?product1=macbook&product2=macbook-air- 13

Looking at the MB it wins in the display category, as well as a full pound lighter and with customizable shells. I prefer the Silver look, so not much of a difference for me there. All things considered, the Air seems more affordable and wins in most categories.

The other thing to consider is that Tim Cook has mentioned replied to "stay tuned" for Mac updates. Knowing Apple's big events (WWDC and the Keynote) usually are the announcement times, what's the general opinion on holding out for a new product lineup vs. going in now? Thoughts on the MacBook vs. Air?

You might get more responses by posting your question in either the MacBook or MacBook Pro forum areas instead of the Mac Pro forum area.

Should you buy a Ford or a Chevrolet?  Only you can decide.  There is no scientifically right answer.  If there were, everyone would buy the same model.

Visit an Apple Store and try both computers.

If you have and depend on USB devices the MBA can use them without an adaptor. The MB has 2 USB-C ports which require an adaptor for the older USB1,2 and 3 devices. The two keyboards are also quite different in feel. Personally, I do not like the MB keyboard and it is one of the things that worries me about the (rumored) MBA and MBP updates coming later in the Fall. (Rumored only because Apple hasn't announced them but we know Apple almost always updates its offerings before the holiday buying season.) If you are seriously considering one or the other I strongly urge you to get into a store that has the MB and check out its keyboard. Finally, the 2nd iteration of the MB got a big power boost but it is still underpowered in my opinion.
